Bega Valley Pistol Club NSW Australia NSWAPA IPSC

Joining the Club

If you decide you wish to take up pistol shooting as a sport, it is a legislative requirement that you take out Club membership and become licenced.

Bega Valley Pistol Club is an approved Club for the purposes of training you in the sport of target pistol shooting. Once you have joined the Club, we will guide you through the process of training you and obtaining your Probationary Pistol Licence (PPL).

You will be on a Probationary Pistol Licence for a minimum of twelve (12) months before you can participate fully in every discipline available. Probationary Pistol Licence holders are not permitted to obtain their own pistols for the first six (6) months of their licence, but you will have access to Club firearms for the purpose of training and participation in pistol shooting.

The training program includes:

After you have had your PPL for six (6) months and with the endorsement of the Club you may acquire up to two (2) pistols (conditions apply) and you must have safe storage for the firearms meeting NSW Police Firearms Registry (FAR) requirements. After twelve (12) months on a PPL you may apply to FAR for a full licence.

Junior Membership

Junior Members are accepted from 12 years of age provided they have parental approval and be adequately supervised. The Membership Application Form includes a Parental Consent Form which must be completed and signed by a parent or guardian if a junior is applying.

Transferring from Another Club

Members of other pistol clubs in NSW, Interstate or overseas may be accepted into the BVPC without having to complete the training programme. However, all new members must provide two (2) character references, proof of identity and a letter from an official of your current or most recent club stating that you are (or have recently been) a financial member and an active shooter in good standing with that club.
